One of the powers of poetry is to establish an inner imaginative discipline that allows us to live a fiercer, more courageous, simpler life at the centre of momentous events and besieging circumstances – to create a more beautiful mind, to find a clearer focus, to work from a surer internal foundation, all the while cultivating a sense of humour and celebration that binds the powers of the individual to the larger community. Proceeds from the event will support the David Whyte Poetry in Residence Award at the Burren College of Art.
